Facts about loopback address (127.0.0.1)

Post by Red Squirrel »

Back in the day when they figured they'll never run out of IP addresses using IPv4 they figured instead of just reserving 127.0.0.1 they'll reserve the entire class A range which is 127.0.0.0-127.255.255.255

So if you try to ping/access any address in that range, it's still going to act as being loopback.

This complete's today's Red Squirrel Networking Tips™ lesson. Have a nice day. :D
