Halloween 2015

Greetings AOV!

Wormwood is once again accessible to players for the Halloween season from October 20, 2015 - November 20, 2015.

You can find white event gates to the Halloween event at various towns.

This is the same event from Halloween 2011 that many players did not get to experience. It is the largest seasonal event on AOV.

Please report any issues or concerns you may have and we will do our best to address them.

Quests
Over 30 quests to take part in for unique rewards!

Candy Collection
Collect candy from completing quests. Candy can be eaten, put down in your house as decoration, or used in quests for better rewards!

Costume Collection
Collect toadstools for Grunilda to help her decorate her house. Turn in enough toadstools and claim a costume as a prize!

Frog Quest
Can you find Helga's 5 missing frogs? Grab a shrinking staff and set out to find them. Maybe some of the other witches and warlocks can provide you with hints to their location.

Hint Scrolls
Some quests will reward you hint scrolls. In addition to providing you with some useful knowledge and tips, some provide you with a bonus against boss abilities or allow you to access new locations!

Bosses

Complete certain quests to gain haunted house keys as a reward. These keys will allow you infinite access to fight the following bosses (Bosses respawn approximately every 15 minutes once killed).

Bosses will always drop one of the following, provided you have done enough damage for loot rights:

60% Chance to drop a special toadstool for Grunilda's costume collection
20% Chance to drop a special Halloween colored dye (Boss specific)
15% Chance to drop special Halloween decor (Boss specific)
5% Chance to drop an artifact from the Conjurer's set (Boss specific)

Ethel the Deranged Witch

Possible rewards
- Black Toadstools, Green Toadstools or Red Toadstools
- Halloween Green Dye (5 Charges)
- Black Cat Statuette, Halloween Ghoul Statuette or Platinum Token
- Conjurer's Grimoire (Spellbook: Undead Slayer, Magery +15, INT 8, SDI 15, LMC 10)

Pumpkin King

Possible rewards
- Black Toadstools, Green Toadstools or Red Toadstools
- Halloween Orange Dye (5 Charges)
- Carved Pumpkin or Platinum Token
- Conjurer's Trinket (Talisman: Undead Slayer, STR 1, HPR 2, HCI 10, DI 20)

Herpekitus the Plant Monster

Possible rewards
- Black Toadstools, Green Toadstools or Red Toadstools
- Halloween Red Dye (5 Charges)
- Dark Tree or Platinum Token
- Conjurer's Garb (Robe: MR2, Luck 140, DCI 5)

Sorceress of the Night

Possible rewards
- Black Toadstools, Green Toadstools or Red Toadstools
- Halloween Purple Dye (5 Charges)
- Ruined Tapestry, Pumpkin Scarecrow or Platinum Token
- Conjurer's Sandals (Sandals: MR2, Luck 140, DCI 5)

Malevolent the Reaper

Possible rewards
- Black Toadstools, Green Toadstools or Red Toadstools
- Halloween Black Dye (5 Charges)
- Grim Warning, Skulls on a Pike or Platinum Token
- Conjurer's Sash (Sash: MR2, Luck 140, DCI 5)

i'm thinking halloweentown isn't working as intended? Nothing agros you, even if you shoot it in the face repeatedly.

The aggro thing is most likely a region setting for the monsters to act passive. I believe i had turned off some region settings the last time the halloween event wrapped up. I'll check those settings when i get home.

Some of the regions with the hint scrolls may lead to an area with an item. It's possible somebody grabbed the item beforehand and it hadnt respawned yet. I'll check that all of the spawners are running and that the respawn timers are quick enough.

Thanks for letting me know, i'll go fix those issues later today.

also do different quests give different candy because i havent gotten ANY black licorice and its becoming so grindy where i dont even want to do it any more lol i've been doing it before and after work. lol

I actually haven't gotten a lot of the candy either but i don't think I've worked through all of the quests.

Also, pumpkin king didn't drop anything on the list. Lot of normal weapons/armour but no mushrooms or etc. I soloed him so I'm sure I did enough dmg

I'm loving the event btw. Too cool

Yes. Different quests give different bags of candy. I had thought about changing the label to show specifically which candy you get instead of the generic 'bag of candy' as there's 6 or 7 different candy quests.

I can put through a patch to fix that up. There are some other fixes i wanted to put in to make things more informative and to extend that quest gump.

The candy quests are a little grindy but the items you get from turning in candy are permanent items. Once you've received them you dont have to get them again unless you want another copy.

You get the special drops in your pack. Check for a black mushroom as it tends to camouflage in your pack!

If not, it might have gotten sent to your bank if you were overloaded. The drop rate is 100% chance to get one of the specials so if you did not get the drop I would be curious to see where it may have ended up!

Good to hear!

I will be patching some improvements to the quests at a later date and time so that they are more informative of the candy rewards. For the time being, you can use this for reference

3-7 pieces of candy per bag. Can drop a random amount of either candy (or rarely, only 1 type):

Mean Spirited Lady Quest
- Rewards Berry Gumdrops or Wrapped Candy

Lycan Or Hate Em Quest
- Rewards Red Licorice or Rock Candy

In A Rot Of Trouble Quest
- Rewards Taffy or Jellybeans

Creepy Crawlies Quest
- Rewards Cherry or Orange Lollipop

Battle Of The Witches Quest
- Rewards Candied Apple or Lime Lollipop

I've Got A Bone To Pick Quest
- Rewards White Chocolate Truffle or Lemon Gumdrop

Jeepers Creepers Quest
- Rewards Black Licorice or Milk Chocolate Truffle

Crow Me A River Quest
- Rewards Caramel Apple or Lime Lollipop

For special rooms with items, such as ruby slippers, frogs, etc you may run into situations where the item is missing but there's a sign nearby that says 'a frog is here' or 'ruby slippers are here'.

Respawn time is between 2 to 5 minutes, so just wait a bit for the item to respawn as somebody else may have grabbed it earlier.

I don't remember names

I did the ravens one, turned it in, no candy. So I did the creepy crawlies one to see if it was just a fluke, also no candy.

It's like UO is trying to protect my teeth or something

Hmmm i'll check that out. Any chance you're using an older client and can't see the candy graphics? Check your pack and candy bag to see if it has a weight but appears to look empty when you open it. That's usually an indicator that the client is outdated.

Do you have a lot of stuff in your pack or are you overweighed? It's possible the reward is going to your bank box instead. If you cannot hold the item it gets sent there.
