LCDs, both text and graphical, are becoming quite popular in computer modding circuits. While graphical LCDs taken from automobile DVD systems may provide more versatility in the way of displaying information, they also come with a hefty price tag. A four or two line text-based LCD is a less expensive alternative, and with the proper software can be just as effective. CrystalFontz is one of the leading providers of text-based LCDs. In this review we will take a look at the CrystalFontz 634 series of LCDs with a display size of twenty characters by four lines, and this particular unit features inverted white text on blue LED backlight.
