NAND Flash Memory - A Future Not So Bleak After All
Posted by newsbot on February 22nd 2012

Even without increasing die count, each die shrink doublescapacity, so even with the Constant Die Count restriction, longevityis effectively maintained. Also, with these die shrinks have comeother improvements to flash architecture =96 both to increase throughputand decrease latency. Another thing sidestepped by the paper is thedifference in quality of flash memory. This varies widely amongmanufacturers, and was highlighted in a recent presentation at theFlash Memory Summit, where several different flash memory types weretested. While some flash actually performed below spec, othersperformed well above it.
