NZXT Cryo S @ rbmods.com
[Aug-09-09] (0 Comments)

With laptop sales consistently topping desktop sales, a comfortable and cool computer is quickly becoming a top priority. There are many laptop coolers out on the market with similar features. So how does one decide on which cooler to purchase? Some of the important traits include angle between laptop keyboard and computing surface, structural rigidity of the unit, cooling capabilities, transportability, and of course price. Let’s see how the NZXT Cryo S does in each of these categories.

Whenthe ezFan notebook cooler first arrived, we had reservations as tohow well t would perform. Many notebook coolers in the past haveoffered little in the way of cooling and, in truth, been verydisappointing. The ezFan is a less conventional laptop cooler though in that it sitsupright directing airflow at the notebook from the side which may makeit even more improbable that the cooler will have any impact on thetemperatures. However, the cooler is also marketed as being a keyboardand mouse cooler so will this make the ezFan into a good product? Let’stake a look...

[News] XPad Slim Laptop Cooler @ virtual-hideout.net
[Jun-21-09] (0 Comments)

As you all should know by now, We've reviewed a ton of laptopcoolers/desks here on VH and I'm personally done most of them. The XPad Slimcould be a good addition to someone out there in need of something to putunder their laptop to keep the heat off their legs. However I cannotoverlook the price and quality of the unit that I was shipped. The odddesign with the logo on the bottom and the bottom looking like the top justfeels weird to me. The part of the unit that's in direct contact, or closestto the super hot bottom of the laptop is just ABS plastic. How is that anybetter than using your laptop on a TV tray or lid from a Rubbermaid tote? The slots cut into the 4 corner coolers are functional to a point, butmostly for looks. Proper cooling needs proper airflow and the XPad Slim hasneither. It simply props your laptop up a 1/4

Enermax Aeolus Laptop Cooler @ pro-clockers.com
[Jun-12-09] (0 Comments)

The Aeolus is Enermax's attempt to bring high performance cooling tolaptops. When I say high performance, I refer to the massive 250mm coolingfan the cooler is built around. Yes, you heard it right, 240mm. This has tobe the largest fan on a laptop ever. Besides the fan, the Aeolus shares thesame theme we saw in the Aurora keyboard. Smooth and flowing aluminum is thebinding structure that supports the cooler. When I first read thespecifications on the cooler, I thought it would look grotesque because of aover-sized fan. Yet, the aluminum brings the cooler back down to earth andin a fashionable way.

Hiyatek HY-CF-6288-1 Laptop Cooler @ bigbruin.com
[May-22-09] (0 Comments)

We have seen many laptop coolers here at Bigbruin.com, and this would be the fourth from Hiyatek. Most of them operate in near silence, which is a bonus. That being said, the fan on this one doesn't seem to be doing anything useful as the drop in temperatures experienced with the HY-CF-6288-1 could be recreated just by using a wire rack we had lying around.

LapLogic W800 Aerogel Extreme @ aphnetworks.com

I'm not going to lie -- I'm a huge fan of plugging external peripherals into my laptop. Mock me all you want; but because nowadays laptops are so friendly with USB-mice (not so much PS/2 products), external speakers, mics, and even webcams, I feel obligated to take advantage. If you question my allegiance to external mice, I will proudly say that I have yet to use the touchpad at home, with the exception of the first time I set eyes on my Dell Inspiron 6400 to make sure it actually worked. In fact, there's a thin layer of dust collecting upon the keyboard and touchpad because of my external keyboard and mouse -- both of which I find to be more ergonomically-friendly. Why is it, then, that when we're on-the-go, our laptop coolers don't offer the support for our mice? I think it's a travesty that we are forced to use the touchpad and not a mouse -- especially if we brought one along for the purpose of using it. No worries though -- LapLogic took into consideration the mouse and conceived the W800 Aerogel Extreme. Using similar technology to the LapLogic G800 Aerogel Extreme, it's got an extra portion just for the mouse to rest on. Is it a step forward, or does it force you to take two steps back?

Vizo miniNinja Laptop Cooler @ gideontech.com
[Jun-24-08] (0 Comments)

Over a year ago I looked at the Ninja Laptop Cooler from Vizo which scored decent marks. Today I received the miniNinja from Vizo. This is pretty much a smaller version of the Ninja, hence the name. It's still an aluminum laptop cooler with two quiet fans that help move the heat away from your laptop. It also angles the laptop a bit to help ease the strain on your wrist. So how does it hold up to it's older brother?

Laptops have always been widely appealing for their portability, but the prices usually have been a major hindrance for consumers. However, along with the latest technology coming in smaller sizes and lower prices, there follows a huge crowd of laptop-purchasers. And with the laptop-purchaser crowd growing everyday, the laptop accessories have become a lot more popular - leading companies to direct more attention towards them. One particular accessory, the laptop cooler, is actually quite popular amongst many laptop users. However, one particular cooler caught my eye -- an interesting design while featuring laptop dock-like features such as an USB hub, I decided to take a look at the NZXT Cryo LX, an active cooler with three fans.

Vizo Ninja 2 Laptop Cooler @ rbmods.com
[Feb-05-08] (0 Comments)

About a year ago, we took a look at the Vizo Ninja Notebook Cooler, where we concluded that it was a decent cooler but was a little undersizedfor many of today's notebook designs. Perhaps Vizo was listening, as theyhave since developed a larger version of this cooler design. Will the VizoNinja 2 Notebook Cooler perform as well as its smaller brother? We willattempt to answer that question in this review.

Thermaltake T1000 Laptop cooler @ xtremecomputing.co.uk
[Jan-10-08] (0 Comments)

Not only does this heat make using my laptop for long periods of time uncomfortable, it can also damage and shorten the life of computer components. So it is in my (and probably your) best interest to keep your laptop as cool as possible. Laptops don't generally have any way to control the fan speed on its cooling fan(s) so what other way of keeping the laptop cool is there? Well that is where things like Thermaltake's range of laptop coolers come in handy.

Hiyatek CF-6159-1 Laptop Cooler with USB Hub @ bigbruin.com
[Dec-06-06] (0 Comments)

There is a compartment on the bottom side of the Hiyatek CF-6159-1 cooler between the two fan openings. Opening a sliding door reveals a storage area for the included USB power cable which has two full size connectors on the end intended for your notebook computer, while the end intended for the cooler has a single mini USB connector. In some situations it may be necessary to have both connections plugged into the host computer to make sure that enough power is provided and that data can be transferred through the hub connections, but I found that using just one USB connection was more than adequate on my notebook computer.

Jetart Xcool NP5000 Laptop Cooler Review @ Extension Tech
[Sep-04-04] (0 Comments)

Although laptop coolers are nothing new to the enthusiast market, one would question the real necessity of them. I mean, if your laptop would get too hot, the whole 4 or 5 real manufacturers of laptops would catch that, and put in better cooling, right? But one could say that a cooler system will last longer, and perhaps be not as prone to crashes and lock-ups. Back on track here, this cooler is very unique in a few ways; it has a 4 port USB 2.0 Hub, adjustable fan speed, and it's AC powered!

With the increasing number of people using laptops, and the ever-increasing speed and features of today's laptops, a laptop cooler is an important addition to many mobile computer-users. The heat produced by some of these laptops can be quite surprising, and quite uncomfortable. If you rest your laptop on your legs for any length of time, as when traveling by plane, for instance, a laptop cooler is an especially welcome addition.

There's nothing like the rude awakening that comes from a suddenly hot lap. I know that more than a couple people have experienced the discomfort of moving a laptop from their desk to their laps; within moments of settling into a comfortable position, your legs break into a sweat and you find yourself putting the laptop back where it was. Or, you start with the laptop in your lap and get used to the heat as it rises. Unfortunately, by the time you can feel it the temperature is already way past uncomfortable. It might not be hot enough to cook an egg but it’s definitely hot enough to make you take notice.

In recent months, we've reviewed a number of notebook stands that aid in either elevating the LCD screen or cooling your portable computer's underside. Today, we take a look at MacMice's popular iBreeze stand which does a bit of both. Aimed to provide a more comfortable keyboard typing angle, the iBreeze also raises the LCD a few inches to reduce strain in your neck and shoulders during prolonged use. But the primary purpose is to cool the underside of PowerBook G4's and their Windows PC equivalents which pump out a lot of heat on their undersides.

"Overclocking enthusiasts love to keep their desktop PC’s cool. But what about us laptop users? Sure, many companies have done laptop cooling pads, but here is one design I haven't seen before. COOLMAX has created an X shaped dual 60mm fan laptop cooler. At the very least, it seems to be more convenient than some of the competition with an integrated 4 port USB hub. Continue on as we look at this COOLMAX X notebook cooler...."

I have never thought a Laptop cooler would be necessary, but today we will have a look to see if it can prove me wrong. Evercool was nice and sent us this Laptop cooler that is placed under the laptop itself. It's equipped with 4 fans so it should be able to cool the lappy down; but what will the consequences be? Let's have a closer look.
