G.Skill PC3-18400 (2300MHz) PI Series 4GB Kit @ tweaktown.com
[Mar-10-10] (0 Comments)

When I think of memory companies that want nothing but speed, only a few really come to mind and one of them would have to be G.Skill. While so many companies these days produce high end memory, we only really see a few leading the pack and when I say that I mean we see the same few companies ahead of everyone with most other companies playing catch up when it comes to speed. While most companies are sitting around the PC3-17600 mark these days, G.Skill as always has kicked it up a notch with a PC3-19200 kit and a PC3-18400 one which we have on hand today. Like most high performance memory kits at the moment, the modules are aimed at P55 platforms due to them coming in dual-channel packets.

Many have or are looking at setting up a home server to store media files, backups, maybe even set an FTP server and print server. But for home use, a dedicated server for this use is really overkill. Sure, one can use excess hardware, or a previous main system as a server, but the extra desk space and electricity consumed can add up quickly. Patriot’s Gear Box gives all these services while small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.

Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000 CL8 KHX2000C8D3T1K3/6GX 6GB Memory Kit @ tweaktown.com
[Nov-26-09] (0 Comments)

The HyperX line-up of memory hasn’t always been the first choice by enthusiasts; not to say that the memory is poor in anyway, it’s just that the likes of Corsair, OCZ and G.Skill usually push their memory modules faster and work on a lower quantity at the high-end by vigorously hand picking each memory chip that is put onto a memory module. These memory makers strive for the absolute bleeding edge of memory technology, while Kingston’s HyperX brand sticks to a more moderate level, but they are relatively still fairly high at the top end.Kingston is no slouch here today, though; no, not at all. In our hands we have a Kingston HyperX DDR3-2000 triple-channel 6GB memory kit with a cache latency rating of 8-8-8-24 at 1.65 volts and it also comes with Intel XMP support to allow for easier overclocking on Intel X58 Express based motherboards that are teamed up with a Core i7 processor.

G.Skill Trident PC3-16000 6GB DDR3 Memory Kit @ tweaktown.com
[Jul-22-09] (0 Comments)

G.Skill was one of the first memory companies to really show up as a competitor in the performance market after companies like Corsair and OCZ and dominated for a number of years. As time goes on we've seen more and more companies enter the market meaning that there's more competition than ever. What this ultimately means for everyone is we get faster, better and cheaper memory. Today we'll be checking out a 6GB PC3-16000 kit from G.Skill that sits in the company’s Trident series. We haven't seen anything from this series before so hopefully it can impress us. Of course PC3-16000 means that our memory is clocked at a whopping 2000MHz which well and truly places it in the high end segment.

Xigmatek Thor's Hammer CPU Cooler @ pro-clockers.com
[Apr-14-09] (0 Comments)

The cooler was the Xigmatek Thor's Hammer. The Hammer is one of thosecoolers that when you first see it you could not but think how does thisthing compete with the big boys like the Coolermaster V8 and ThermalrightT.R.U.E. Well that is what I thought anyways. And to think about how wellthe HDT-S1283 has done at a budget price you would think this monster wouldbe a Top Ten cooler killer. The Hammer is based on the Heat pipe DirectTouch, or HDT for short, technology. To explain this in a brief sentence, the heat pipes come in direct contact with the IHS of the processor for moredirect cooling. We will get more into that later in the review. So, you haveto read a little more to see what this cooler and HDT is all about.

For the average consumer the Corsair DDR3-1866 Dominator GTs would be overkill; for the price of this one kit you could purchase 12GB of decent DDR3-1600C7. G.Skill's F3-12800CL8T-6GBHK Tri-Channel DDR3 memory @ bit-tech.net
[Jan-30-09] (0 Comments)

*/If we are going by US prices, at the end of the day we think the G.Skill F3-12800CL8T-6GBHK with its Samsung HCF0 ICs have slightly more overhead than the Elpida-based Corsair DHX+ modules we looked at earlier this week - if your Core i7 CPU can stretch, the memory should accommodate. It may not have anything like the funky and more importantly, moddable (but also patented), DHX+ heatsinks on the Corsair but a case with good airflow should keep the G.Skill cool enough. Moreover, they have a lifetime warranty to cover mishaps and being low profile they're less likely to chance interference with a large CPU heatsink.

[Dec-08-08] (0 Comments)

*/This board is killing me because I want to like so much as the MSI team has clearly put in incredible effort and risk into designing the Eclipse SLI. Since just the P45 generation six months ago, so much has changed for the better which we need to give MSI credit for - the GreenPower core is excellent, the D-LED 2 is a good evolution, the board looks fantastic, it's stable with 12GB of memory and it's finally got a compelling market niche. The problem is that it's only 95 percent of the way there and it still needs attention to tidy up the loose ends - the BIOS and the software needs work, the cooling isn't wonderful, the D-LED 2 can evolve further, the X-Fi is either love or hate and the GreenPower Genie can go in the bin.

Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 X2 2GB - GTX 280 killer @ pcper.com
[Nov-25-08] (0 Comments)

Why would just one board partner be willing to offer such acompelling part? There several factors that likely include the economicslump, the slight drop in prices on the HD 4870 X2 cards and inventoryavailability. Even taking that into consideration I find it very confusingthat AMD seems content to have this graphics card be such a low volumeproduct. With its great price (currently competing with NVIDIA's GTX 280cards) and performance advantages (that you will see in our benchmarks) Ireally think the Radeon HD 4850 X2 could catch on in the enthusiastsegment.

[Nov-13-08] (0 Comments)

Though G.Skill's kit managed to melt it's wax wings on the path togreatness, it still managed to impress a fair bit before it plummeted backto the earth. Though it managed only 1,000 MHz, this is still a 25%overclock, so to speak - something which is quite impressive on a kit thatruns for under $90. Even if you don't intend to overclock, these modulespack a fair punch with their low latencies, great build quality, and oddly, lower cost than the rest of the flock. Considering these few graces, as wellas the small tokens inside the package, I'd have to say that I recommendthis kit to anyone looking for a quick fix in terms of a memory upgrade -something that will simply drop in and work - now that's peace of mind.

Iron Man HD Movie @ tweaktown.com

Comic book translations have been Hollywood’s staple for a few years now, since 2000’s X-Men made them hip again. But while cinema goers with even just an avid interest in comic books were looking forward to The Dark Knight, Iron Man came out of nowhere, with barely a trailer to telegraph its imminent arrival. Word of mouth spread about the surprising quality of the film and the killer casting of reformed Hollywood bad boy Robert Downey Jr. By the end of the theatrical showings, Iron Man had smashed assumptions and became the surprise hit of the summer, both financially and creatively.

At full load, the memory keeps its composure and pumps outthe bandwidth. Thanks to the new spreaders, it was only slightly warm to thetouch and looks pretty sweet. It's also very nice to see that the heatspreaders haven't added much extra weight to the modules.

Imagine this:You are an engineer working at Asus. As a member of the team to design and engineer boards for the company's Republic of Gamer line, you and your team are given a task to create what the world will soon define as the ultimate enthusiast motherboard on the Intel platform. The goal of this project is to make a board that totally dominates the competition in the market as a flagship enthusiast motherboard, which naturally has to be completely-really-uber-1337 in all areas. Did you say performance? Check. Did you say features? Check. How about the looks? We got that covered. Anything else a hardcore computer enthusiast will appreciate? That's quite a challenge -- you got to be creative and imaginative. Fortunately, none of us here at APH Networks works in quite a department that requires such superior engineering skills and imagination at hand. The great thing of being a reviewer is that instead of thinking about what to implement in the design, we were instead given a product as a result of such marvelous work -- the Asus Striker II NSE motherboard, based upon NVIDIA's 790i chipset -- and we can have all the fun in criticizing (And praising, what were you thinking?) the hard work of these people. So we present to you our review of the Asus Striker II NSE motherboard, a product that's based off the Striker II Extreme that the Asus bosses probably told their engineers,

Touchscreen Spells Doom for Blackberry @ cooltechzone.com
[May-20-08] (0 Comments)

Touchscreen is the must-have feature in latest cell phones, particularly smartphones. And the world?s two most celebrity companies going head-to-head against each other are obviously Apple and RIM. Apple?s iPhone has been called the Blackberry Killer, and RIM?s newly announced BlackBerry Bold is called the iPhone Killer. Such comparisons are meaningless, but they make for interesting reading. Although Bold doesn?t have a touchscreen, rumors are swirling around RIM and its Thunder device that?s slated to compete better against the iPhone, and yes, with touchscreen.

RIM BlackBerry Bold (9000) Smartphone @ cooltechzone.com

RIM just announced a new smartphone for its portfolio of existing BlackBerry devices boldly called the Bold. The name is quite bold (pun intended) and obviously so. It?s a complete rehash on UI and hardware sides that make for a powerful device that?s surely to quell iPhone?s market takeover intentions. It?s not that we particular think of the iPhone as the BlackBerry Killer, but it?s the next best alternative, and with Apple moving in swiftly behind RIM, it could?ve happened. However, RIM is taking care of itself and very well so.

ASUS M3N-HT Deluxe - nForce 780a SLI for Phenom Arrives @ pcper.com
[May-07-08] (0 Comments)

The drawbacks to the Hybrid Power though outweigh the positives inthis current implementation. First, only the 9800 GTX and the 9800 GX2graphics cards are supported with the 780a SLI chipset - that leaves a wholehost of NVIDIA users with 9600 GTs, 8800 GTS and GT cards that probablythink they have the right to Hybrid Power technology since their cores arebased on the same that rests under the hoods of the 9800 GTX and GX2. Also, the REAL KILLER here is that NVIDIA is promoting the nForce 780a SLI chipsetas an enthusiast platform, and pushing Hybrid Power with these high endcards, yet the fact that the motherboard GPU can only output at 1920x1200resolutions is not-so-cleverly hidden.

Assassin's Creed:Director's Cut @ bit-tech.net
[May-05-08] (0 Comments)

Viewed from one angle Assassin’s Creed:Director’s Cut ishonestly a little disappointing. The PC version doesn’t really addanything all that new, doesn’t make the most of the platform andcarries over many of the flaws of the original game. The Director’sCut doesn’t offer any new content except for the new investigations, and these aren’t really all that great. But the game is still quite good. The thing we really like about Assassin’s Creedis how good it is for creating player stories. The open sandbox stylemeans that players can make their own tales in a way that makes thegame great to talk about. There was the time I killed the Mad Doctor of Acre by climbing somescaffolding, assassinating an archer, and climbing down in to thecourtyard of the hospital. I leapt from a nearby chandelier and plungeda knife into his throat, escaping through alleyways with the aid ofsome vigilantes and scholars. It’s wonderful and deliciously emergent, going a long way to address complaints of repetitiveness. In a nutshell, the verdict lies in a balance of these two opposingviewpoints. Is Assassin’s Creed good? Undoubtedly – but the Director’s Cutisn’t a massive improvement over the original. You may well love thenew version more than the original, like we do, but the route of thatpreference won’t be because the game is markedly better on PC. It’ll bebecause your PC is markedly better than a console.

The Club @ bit-tech.net
[Feb-06-08] (0 Comments)

Don’t be fooled by the guns and the explosion – it’s been madeclear to us over the course of this review that The Club isn’t actuallya third person shooter at all. Really, it’s a very cleverly disguisedbeat-em-up; Tekken with all the regular moves left out and justthe special combos remaining. The whole game feels like Soul Calibur in the twenty-firstcentury and the proof is in the short character biographies, thecombo-centric gameplay and the booming voice that yells “Finn!Fight!” at the start of every round.Unfortunately, like most beat-em-ups, The Club is also alove-it-or-hate-it affair and it doesn’t surprise me to hear that thedevelopers refer to it as ‘The Marmite Game’. The experience playershave with The Club depends more on the gamers themselves thanthe game and, just as some people love Virtua Fighter but hate Deador Alive, so too will players of The Club become divided. Personally, I can see the game isn’t for me – the forced practice andrepetition of levels in order to get high scores and an unequalledlevel of perfection just doesn’t interest me. I can still see theappeal and craftsmanship in the game though and the level of polish onsome of the levels is truly extraordinary. If practice makes perfect is your motto and you love honing your skillsto a razor edge then The Club could be the best investment you make all year. If you’rethe type of gamer to learn all the cool combos in Soul Caliburor you can manual forever in the latest Tony Hawk’sthen this is the game for you – it’s complex, but approachable and agreat proving ground for your skills and memory. On the other hand, ifyou prefer games that you only need play once or with stories thatoccupy more than the head of a matchstick, then you may want to give TheClub a miss. It’s not a bad game by any measure – but it isn’t foreveryone.

The K-Lite Codec pack is the most popular codec pack available at the moment and works flawlessly on Windows Vista. The main benefit of this package is that you can choose the broad type of pack you wish to install (either Basic, Standard or Full). Most users will want to install the standard package, as this should play almost any video file available. If you find a video format that is not supported, it is easy to re-install the full pack at a later date. The full pack is primarily designed for people that need to encode as well as decode (for example, in a movie making package), so is overkill for the vast majority of users.

LUMINA by Design_Master - scratch built acrylic case mod @ bit-tech.net
[Dec-14-07] (0 Comments)

I discoveredthe art of modding two years ago and I started to testmany materials, including acrylic. Immediately, I was impressed withits strength, its incomparable luminous reaction and moulding capacity, allowing me to create pieces of nearly any size or shape. It was enoughto convince me that acrylic was the best choice for my future projects.Obviously, to reach the desired technical level, I had to perfect theskill of cutting, paring, polishing and moulding. I learned these byvisiting the factory installations of a friend of mine, who is myacrylic supplier. Through the observation of big machines, I learnedthat I could recreate the same effect (in reduced scale) by usinginventive manual techniques. This is my way:To be able to reach aperfect execution level that looks nearly manufactured, but by usingonly the usual manual tools, specific methodology, simpleprocedures…and a bit of craftsmanship, of course.I always loved clean and bold projects, mainly the architecturalbuilding ones. This is my style, and LUMINA was not different. I soughtto keep away from “aquarium look” that the most of Plexiglas projectsfollow, by inventing a new design and lighter structure. Undoubtedly, the engineering helped me to plan the project – to fix the alignment ofsome pieces and to find a solution for little building issues, such asadjusting the horizontal inclination angles of the two hinged doors toprevent them from being jammed.

AMD Hybrid CrossFire Technology P @ pcper.com
[Dec-14-07] (0 Comments)

For hybrid CrossFire to work reliably there are definitely goingto be only certain combinations of GPUs and IGPs that will work together. Since the RS780 chipset will come in a few flavors with different amountsof GPU performance and the RV610-620 will be offered in variousconfigurations as well. Hybrid CrossFire performance is limited to LOWESTperforming card times two, if we could get 100% efficient scaling. Sobuying a discrete card that is more than 1.8x faster than your integratedgraphics card would be overkill and a waste of money.

Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512 @ bit-tech.net
[Dec-11-07] (0 Comments)

Despite its horribly confusing naming scheme, Nvidia’s GeForce8800 GTS512 is a good product at face value, as it delivers unprecedentedperformance at the price point Nvidia is trying to hit. However, theproblem Nvidia has is that if it doesn’t manage to hit the price pointit’s given to us and the price edges up towards the £250 mark, itbrings the GeForce 8800 GTX back into play. That said, if the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 hits the ~£220 retail pricewe’ve been given, it will hit a sweetspot that will make it a viablealternative to a stock-clocked GeForce 8800 GT and should make it muchbetter value than most of the pre-overclocked 8800 GTs out there. Wesaid the GeForce 8800 GT delivered performance that rivalled theGeForce 8800 GTX, but the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 manages to take thefight to the GeForce 8800 GTX and in many scenarios it’s actuallyfaster. It’s worth making it clear that the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 is not aGeForce 8800 GTX killer and the GeForce 8800 GTX and Ultra will stillcontinue to rule the roost at high resolutions with anti-aliasingenabled. However, what Nvidia has done is made a similar level ofperformance available to those with monitors around 1680x1050 at a muchlower price point – if you're looking at playing games on a 1920x1200(or higher) screen, we'd still recommend the 8800 GTX.Ultimately the decision of whether to buy the GeForce 8800 GTS 512 willcome down to how much retailers want to charge for it. That’s somethingthat Nvidia unfortunately cannot control, but it could easily be boththe making of this product and its downfall too.

bit-tech P:Hands on with Intel's X48 chipset @ bit-tech.net
[Nov-27-07] (0 Comments)

It's not like 1,600MHz FSB CPUs will be saved for X48either, sinceAsus has already added support on its X38 boards. If Asus can managethis, we have no doubt that everyone else will follow suit too, whichin turn kills any potential hardware leverage the X48 might have had.On the overclocking front, Asus has shown me that it has achieved568MHz FSB with an E6550 on air with a moderate voltage increase, however the team behind that must have a gem of a CPU because I canonly get our QX9770 processor to match the results we got with ourP5E3 Deluxe, which topped out around 500MHz FSB.If you've already bought an X38 then don't stress about X48 - you'realready there, just keep your BIOS up to date. However what worries meis that since X38 is hardly the performance demon what we expected itto be over P35 - where does this leave Intel's mid-to-high end chipsetbusiness?

So does not wanting to actually use it make money wellspent? It can just sit there looking cool, which is fine if all you dois show off your PC to others, but not if you want to use it yourself. It really, really kills me that Zalman just needs to sort this one major issue to make it a product absolutely worth purchasing, but until then it’s not worth the cardboard it comes in.

Nvidia's GeForce 8800 GT is a truly stunning product and is arefreshing change to the rather dull graphics card market we've beensubjected to ever since the high that was the launch of Nvidia'sGeForce 8800 GTX. It's not a GeForce 8800 GTX killer and if you weremaking the choice between GeForce 8800 GTX and a pair of GeForce 8800GTs, I would still opt for the former, but as a single card solutionfor just over £150 (inc. VAT), it's an almost unmissable proposition. It incorporates everything that was great about G80, and also throws inthe only good feature in Nvidia's G84 and G86 graphics chips - thesecond-generation video processor.Yes, there are a few driver issues, but Nvidia is aware of the bugswe've pointed out and we're working with the company to fix them. In terms of gameplay, the game is fantastic. Smooth, fluid andinvolving, the game is accessible to new players and won’t overly putunfamiliar players at a disadvantage. At the same time, it encouragesplayers to experiment and try and learn more from the game, rapidlygaining skill.Graphically the game is a marvel too; environments appear both lush anddetailed without interfering or distracting from the match at hand. It’s the kind of thing which shows that the game has been playtested todeath. However, there are a few things which could be a problem – mainly thelack of change. Sure, the graphics are enhanced and there are newlevels, but a lot of that could have been accomplished in a smallerupdate. The Necris vehicles could help address our fears, but we can’treally comment since we didn’t get to see much of them.Basically, it’s the same old Unreal Tournament, but with a facelift and boob-job which is wellsimulated in terms of bounce. Yeah, I liked that analogy too. If you liked the past games then you’ll love UT3 and ifyou haven’t played the past games then you’ll probably still love it.If you’re one of those in-between players though who’s looking forsomething a little different or new, or with more of a focus onteamplay, then you may be better off waiting a while before you buy.

Lynch on the other hand is often vying for a brawl and can be heardyelling or charging forward into the thick of the battle. Not only is there the obvious envy of Lynch being able to chargethoughtlessly into battle, but the added annoyances and problems causedfrom having to pick up the pieces and revive the poorly medicatedmonster.

There’s no doubt that this is a slightly shoddy port of themuch-lovedPC game, and whether the fault lies with Day One or with the challengesset by the exotic PS3 hardware, it’s still hard to recommend aconversion that looks worse than a dated original. Hard, but notimpossible, because what makes F.E.A.R. so compelling has stillsomehow made the transition intact. Once I’d got over the horrors ofthe graphics engine, I found myself completely drawn into the game, andwhile key sections still tested my patience more than my skills – Ipractically feel like I’ve worked at Armacham having spent so much timein its offices and research labs – that hasn’t stopped my enjoyment.

Gigabyte and XFX – GeForce 8600GT graphics cards go head-to-head @ tweaktown.com
[Apr-19-07] (0 Comments)

You find yourself wanting to get into DirectX 10 gaming but with only a 17” or 19” LCD you cannot justify spending excessive dollars on an overpowered card. If you are not a huge detail junky, and technology like AA and AF does not bother you, then even the Nvidia GeForce 8600GTS is probably overkill for you. With users like this in mind, Nvidia has come out with the 8600GT, a mid-range card at about 2/3 the price of a standard 8600GTS. A 1/3 price drop equates to AU$100 (US$80), a significant saving for anyone. Two versions are with us today, a silent passive-cooled offering from Gigabyte and an overclocked XXX version from XFX, a company who pleasantly pleased us with its 8600GTS in an earlier review.

nVidia GeForce 8800GTS 640MB vs. 1280MB in SLI mode @ tweaktown.com
[Mar-21-07] (0 Comments)

We have had a look at the 320MB nVidia GeForce 8800GTS graphic card offering a few times here at TweakTown in the past - we have looked at it in its stock form, overclocked and in SLI. It’s a fantastic card and doesn’t disappoint but in our first article we mainly focused on how it compared against the 640MB in single card configuration. Today we are going to be re-focusing on this situation but when the cards are used together in SLI mode. With in excess of 1.2GB of memory on offer when the 640MB cards are enabled in SLI mode, you have to wonder are we simply at a point of overkill. Are the 640MB cards for non-SLI and the 320MB cards for SLI? These are some of the questions we hope to answer today.

OK! We are being a little harsh and a little inaccurate but let’s have a look at what exactly the Radeon X1950GT is before we continue to criticize. It’s a about the same price as a regular nVidia GeForce 7900GS 256MB but cheaper than the Radeon X1950PRO with 256MB and 512MB of memory. It makes it somewhat of a questionable release since it’s only marginally cheaper than the 256MB PRO.Let’s get into and find out what the new Radeon X1950GT from the folks at Palit has to offer against its competitors and if it’s actually worth buying or if it’s just an excuse for AMD and ATI to kill over supply problems of the RV570 chip.

nVidia ForceWare Vista Driver Blunder – Thermal Management? @ tweaktown.com

They say bad things happen in groups of three – we’re at number four and hope for no more problems.Today we’ll tell you about the death of an nVidia GeForce 7900GS graphics card and how we think it could have been avoided by better and more thoroughly-tested Windows Vista ForceWare drivers. It seems to be a major blunder by nVidia and we feel as if it is important enough to alert our readers about the issue.

The G.SKILL F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ unite overclocking and 2GB. They almost overclock like the best 1 GB Dual-Channel kits, but offer double the amount of capacity. We reached 275 MHz (DDR550) at low 2.6V. If you want the smoothness of 2 GB and also overclocking, they can be yours for about $245, which is an excellent price.

G.SKILL uses Samsung TCCD or TCC5 chips on these DDR memory modules. The timings of 2.5-4-4-8 are pretty much what you would expect from modules using these chips. During our overclocking tests we could get DDR600 speeds out of the sticks, at a rather small voltage of 2.8V. The best about this memory? It's the price. You can find a 2x 512MB kit for around $170 online.

Considering that HTPC enthusiasts would be a large part of the MX6's target market, it is positively criminal that it is not Media Center compatible. Again, if one had the determination and skill, one could use LCDC to produce your own custom screens to display various HTPC activities. If you were seriously hardcore, you might even code your own Media Center plug-in for LCDC. However, having forked out big bucks for this display, this functionality should be a mere installation wizard away - it should not be down the community to write their own software.

Casebuy EZ Power Supply Tester 2 @ thinkcomputers.org
[Sep-15-05] (0 Comments)

So, just how do you know if a power supply works or not, plug it in right? Well that would require either hooking it to yourmotherboard, which if the PSU was bad might kill your motherboard, or jumping the wires to make the PSU think it is hooked up.Jumping the wires requires you to cut wires and essentially damage your PSU and void any warranty you might have. The easier waywould be to buy a Power Supply Tester. Today for review I have the new Power Supply Tester from CaseBuy. It is equipped to handlethe latest PSU's, you can hook 24pin, SATA, PCIE and P4 connectors to it for testing and also the standard PSU connections. It isaptly named the 'EZ Power Supply Tester 2'. I would like to thank CaseBuy for the chance to review there products.

MGE Magnum 500W Power Supply @ gotapex.com
[Sep-13-05] (0 Comments)

The Magnum 500w power supply propels MGE into a market they haven't beenbefore, highest end PSUs. Their newest offering presents many of the bestattributes on the market and then adds a few others to top it off. Therehave been silent power supplies before from companies such as PC Power andCooling or Antec, but none have taken it to the level that MGE has, a fullsize copper heatpipe. This alone will extend the life of the PSU, heat isone of the primary killers of computer parts. Combine that with a decent fanto provide some ventilation and airflow and you have a killer combination. Thanks, and have a great day!

The first thing to keep in mind is that Koolance didn't just send acooling kit and say =93have fun=94. Koolance teamed up with a local VAR and abusiness partner, Infortechnow, to build a killer rig that will really put theExos-2 through its paces better then anything we could have thrown at it. So thebox was HUGE, standing taller then my 3.5 yr old son and weighed twice as muchas he does. The only thing that made it easier to carry was that it didn'twiggle, kick, and scream as I brought it into the home office/computer lab likeDylan would.

TCC5 is not a brand new replacement for TCCD, it is simply the samechip speed binned to DDR466 instead of DDR500 and has been available for aslong as TCCD. The performance of your TCC5 product now relies heavily on thebinning process used by the memory manufacturers (OCZ, Corsair, G.Skill etc)but if they do a good job you should get identical performance to currentTCCD.

Albatron PX925XE Pro-R Motherboard Review @ PCstats.com
[Mar-29-05] (1 Comments)

At the tip of the current chipset ice berg is the Intel 925XE, and motherboards like the Albatron PX925XE Pro-R which are built upon its foundations. The 925XE chipset is a fickle one, supporting only Socket 775 Pentium 4 processors compatible with an 800 MHz or 1066 MHz FSB. Its four dual channel DDR-2 memory sockets will accommodate up to 4GB of non-ECC unbuffered DDR2 memory. Considering that the 925XE is ideally suited for use with '1066FSB' Pentium 4 Extreme Edition CPUs, as a killer gaming rig, we'd recommend using at least 2GB of system memory for the best benefit.

There are five weapons to use in Painkiller, each weapon has both a

recognize as standard FPS fare. While these are fully functional with
one or two exceptions, most seem rather uninspired. That's really too
bad, too. Since most of the focus of this game is killing as many
enemies as you can, it would have been nice to have some more

Inno3D GeForce 6800 VGA Review @ OCC

It has been run into the ground that NVidia's GeForce 6800 line are the cards to have for great game play in Doom3. Sure, I like Doom3 but I also like lots of other games. Even more than that, I like not having to spend a car payment on a video card to play those games. I think this is the dilemma many of us face when its time for an upgrade. At present, the prices of the ATi Radeon 9800XT and GeForce 5950 are looking pretty good with new cutting edge products on the market driving their prices down. Do I want to spend my money on yesterday's killer card or on scaled back version of the bleeding edge of technology?

Keeping with the custom case and modification end of the spectrum, no company seems to make things easier for you then Vantec. Founded in 1994 with its main focus in thermal solutions for computer cooling, Vantec has been around for a long time, and rightly so. They seem to never stop coming out with great ideas for the case modder and computer enthusiasts. When UV hit the case modding scene a few years ago, you had to be a good DIY'er with some mad dremel skillz. Trying anything out with UV meant a trip to the paint shop to buy way more paint than you would ever need to mod your PC. Well times change, and now you generally don't have to mess with all the fuss. the hardest thing to understand is why is it so easy to grab all these mods, yet I still se so many PC enthusiasts with little if any mods to their PC's? Well hopefully with companies like Vantec continuing to evolve the case modding spectrum with their EZ Grip line up, it'll be just that much easier to do just that. Lets have a look at some EZ Grippage...

This one is completely manually controlled by the user, so its more like a fan controller with a temperature readout. The thing to bare in mind is that it simply works, and works well by offering you a very unlimited threshold of RPM adjustment which to this present day hasn't been available except from other manual controllers such as the Nexus from Vantec. The trick is to not overkill the car theme, I saw a case several months back with a BMW theme, and it was just horrible. Aspire's new case the X-Infinity has a car theme to it, did they over do it or did they find the right balance between car and computer case? You be the judge.

GeForce 6800 Launch @ Bit Tech
[Apr-15-04] (0 Comments)

What is extremely interesting is that NV's developer relations team have clearly been working overtime - unlike previous generations of cards, there will actually be titles that support the new features within the 6-month llifecycle of the card! Significantly, there will be patches for both PainKiller and FarCry that will enable them to use Shader Model 3.0 to improve the look of the game.

Perhaps even more significantly, check out the game at the bottom - Vampire: Bloodlines. If you have been following the development of this game, you will know that it is based on the Source engine - the same engine that powers Half Life 2, developed by Valve Software. With Valve Software signing a co-marketing agreement with ATI (and, we presume, not including Shader 3 support to avoid any awkward ATI-support questions) seeing a licensee embrace Nvidia's leadership must be painful for both Valve and ATI.

Our goal in gathering up the prizes for this contest is to assist the winners in cooling down their hot rig, which will in turn allow for plenty of OverClocking! OCIA.net is in need of a new t-shirt design, and this is where you come in. Put your graphic design skills to the test and submit your best design for entry into the contest.
