If you just got a new Linux distro, you will want to burn it on a CD. ISO is the standard format for CD images and this is usually what you download. This tutorial will show you how it's done.

It made it on warp2search.... but I don't think that's good...

Maybe you should stick to making more advanced articles and not the newbie stuff. Maybe setting up a server or something like that would be more "advanced". Oh well, ad impressions, hits, I'm happy. em320.gif

you didn't release it on the main page yet either. ANd I just noticed within like 1 night it's well over 1,000 hits. Not bad indeed, Im realeasing a linux version because people wanted one of those as well. Since i didn't make it cumulative like I wanted too, people didnt know about the first article ( mad.gif red), so they just assumed I wrote it for windows only.... I wanted to have them all correspond, which would have been easier and brought in more hits.

Forgot about releasing it on the first page. The only reason I did not want them to refer to others is because it would make people think it's like a "part 2" while the other is completly different, but I can always put back whatever you had said referring to the last one. If you write a linux version (how to burn in Linux) then definatly we can make them reference each other since it's the same thing but different OS, so in this article we can put "to do this in linux check this article" or whatever.

a lot of people asked for it, They would have understood why I did it in windows if we made these articles basically linked, which is what they should be. Im taking the newbie step by step, with a new tutorial almost every week. So you really should have linked the first article within the second, since it just makes sense.

oh and with the link I just posted, i made it sloppy, and some table cells don't need to be there, but can just be one instead of 2. But make sure you read the bottom though, cuz i said something about a link to the forums thread for it.
Thanks red, I know you'll make it fit your script anyways, so it won't look terrible.

Yeah you're probably right I should make them link. But really that should of been part of the same article but that's ok I can make it another. (more hits)

but when you format it, you don't have to make it table cells since I have to take it out anyway. I'm busy working on the halo review and playing it to get screen shots and get to where I was, but I'll have the article up when I get the chance and link all the others somehow.

well it's not like you have to link them, just the passage I had in there in the beginning would have been fine, and maybe even an archive of the linux articles. I do not plan on stopping my writing, but crap happens, you know.

Anyways, yeah, you can release the new one like dual, just a windows or linux option.

I just added it in the same article. I think it will be best that way. Something we should of did before I release it though. What I want to do is once we have a few linux articles I will add a new category to the article database and put all the linux ones there... in fact, I might as well do that right now...

why not a choice for windows or linux version instead of including the windows one at the end?

I can't believe how many hits this is getting. LOL I check my logs and there's constantly a flood of people searching for how to burn an iso image. I guess these n00b guides are worth it since they bring more traffic then the pure geek ones. laugh.gif

Cool tutorial! Theres one problem for me though... When I finished the download the ISO's, they turned into WINRAR archives... Does this matter at all? (Sorry about the threadmine.. rolleyes.gif )

What do you mean that they turned into winrar archives? the icon changed? Or did they actually change to .rar? Since winrar might support opening ISO's directly (never used it much so not sure) so maybe it just has the winrar icon, but it should still work with your burning program.

The extension is .i586, but in properties it says the type of file is a WinRAR archive.

Odd, never heard of that extension. Are you sure it was even a .iso file you were downloading at first? According to google .i586 sounds like something for linux, though I could be wrong.

(Edit: said .bin but meant .iso)
