I think I have been barred from an internet site.

They must know my Mac number and IP address.

I can change my IP address by unplugging the router.

But other than changing my network card is there any other way of changing a mac address.

Is there any other authenticatoin that an internet site could look at on my machine to be used to bar me from connecting or having access.

This site does not require a username to browse, even when I log on without my username I get limited access on all my computers.

mac address is dropped as soon as you hit a router so a site can't block by mac address since all they get is the mac address of the last router the packet went through. They probably blocked your IP subnet so your only way is to use a proxy. I doubt it, but they could of set a cookie as well.

To enter the site I have to install the Java applettte on my computer first. My friend thinks that this would be like a platform. From this platform it would not be to difficult for them to monitor a mac address. If I am letting them install software onto my machine so I can access thier site, then they must be able to monitor and bar mac addresses. This weekend I will change my network card, uninstall and reinstall thier software and see if this solves the problem.

It has taken a year of abuse and alot of annoyance from me to make them want to bar me, but now I am barred it is a challenge to get back on.

The laptop still connects to them. But I have not been abusive from the laptop yet.

i did nothing to get banned, they just thought i was red and banned me on that misguided thought.

but you must really look at it in the way of did that site really do any thing for you.

is it worth getting back on and getting blocked again.

since you are a member here at jryan's and red's site there is no need to worry about that podunk little minded site that banned you.

By the way -JAVA is a 'machine' that enables you to view the Ho's & the chat-thats all it does.

And 'they' are not installing Java -Java is a program that you install on your PC -the site uses it . I'd install the latest Java from Sun Systems.

The default is to display only the IP address, subnet mask and

For Release and Renew, if no adapter name is specified, then the IP address
leases for all adapters bound to TCP/IP will be released or renewed.

For Setclassid, if no ClassId is specified, then the ClassId is removed.

ipconfig /release will simply release your IP then you do renew to get a new one, but since the mac address is the same, they'll probably hand over the same IP.

If you have a router, most of them allow to change the mac address of the outbound interface so change that, then do a renew on the router and you'll get a new IP.

If it's a nic directly attached to the modem then it depends on the nic. I'm sure some must have some kind of setting to change the mac address. But I've never seen it.
