This tip explains how to use the Auto Complete feature in the Command Prompt.

Log on as Administrator.
Click Start, and then click Run.
Type Regedit and OK.

Double click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Double click SOFTWARE.
Double click Microsoft.
Double click Command Processor.
In the right pane of Regedit, double click the 'CompletionChar' DWORD value.
Type 9 click OK.

Close Regedit.

Click start/programs/accessories/command prompt.

Type 'cd d' and hit the Tab key. The first folder that matches the 'd' letter is displayed (you can switch from folders pushing the Tab key).

That's cool. I'm so used to linux command prompt it's hard to go in dos.

Speaking of Linux-------

I've got one of those systems that runs off the cd-(whatever it's called)

Yes it will boot & run from the CD & I can see my files & that's it.

I've never been able to make it do squat.

It won't recognize my printers or internet connection nor can I figure out how to copy anything-like in a XP crash situation.

It's a dust collector.

Yeah I personally don't think linux is ready for desktop use. Servers, yes, since all you have to worry about is reconizing your nic card and HDDs, but a full blown workstation... too many compatability issues still, hardwarewise and softwarewise. There's workarounds (ex: wine, 3rd party drivers) but they don't always work.
