19 LOL

At 14 I don't even think we had our first PC yet. Actually, it was 2000, so it was probably like the first year we had it.

Would not be easy.

1st: you need a central server, a dedicated one that has tons of bandwidth. it's only text, but when you have a few million people, it's lot of bandwidth.

2nd: making it authenticate with the forum would also cause lot of bandwidth consuption on the site, and this is not a dedicated server.

3nd: socket programming ain't the easiest. No wait, good socket programming ain't the easiest.

Mind you, this does sound like a cool project, just not easy at all to do it. I want to learn more advanced socket programming myself as I'm coding a set of applications that will allow me to remotely shut down all the PCs of my network remotely. This same program will also wait for a packet from the UPS PC to shut down everything in the event of a power outage.

Hey all I was just wondering on how I would go codeing my own chat line thing like a instant messanger??? But the thing is I was going to have to so that I was ICeteks forums ready so then you could use your forum usernames and passwords to log on to it... like a Ice Teks instant messanger... Now I know there is the shout box thing but I am trying to learn how to do this.
