I satnd by my comment. But anyway, saying "alcohol 120% didnt want to put them on cd for some reason", doesn't really tell me much. It could be a corrupt image, it could be a missing cue file, it could be you don't know what you downloaded, or it could be that you don't know how to use alcohol 120%. There's really no way for me to know. All I'll say for now is that I've burned Bin files without cues with CloneCD before. If you want anything else, I need some more info. Like what is it supposed to be? How big is the file? Did it come with a cue\ccd\mds? Have you tried writng a cue file? Can you tell why alcohol won't burn it? etc.

hey manadren i do have a basic computer knowledge but the bin files were annoying me coz alcohol 120% didnt want to put them on cd for some reason and i just wanted to know if i cud open it without bothering with a virtual drive.

It's probably propiatary to the game, so when you open the game exe it opens the bin files as needed. Probably used to store textures and stuff.
Jian Xiong - Mar-20-2006 server time
My bin file is a game data, but how do we open it?
Red Squirrel - Mar-16-2006 server time
Yeah I can't stand how people use p2p networks unresponsbly and wonder why their computer is infested with crap.
manadren - Mar-16-2006 server time
I know this dan person is probably long gone by this point, but if you're not even going to make an attempt to learn this stuff on you're own, you really shouldn't be messing around with it. This guy obviously didn't even bother reading the article+thread. That kind of crap annoys me to no end. Not only do they want something for nothing, they want tech support as well. Secondly, it goes along with a gneral rule that you shouldn't be downloading that kind of stuff without a certain basic level of computer knowledge. Those p2p networks are breeding grounds for all sorts of malicious software and scam artists, if you don't know what you're doing, you're just signing your own pc's death warrent, not to mention your bank account.

Ron - Feb-28-2006 server time
ok, here's the thing.. the link above is to a software that allows you to only open images that are up to 300 MB...... now how many CD images are actually less than 600 MB so i suggest get 'ISO Buster' google search it, or get it from limewire, or go to download.com and search 'ISO Buster'
manadren - Feb-13-2006 server time
mdf\mds are commonly used in Alcohol 120%. Similar to the Bin\cue format, it uses a large mdf file which contains the cd data and a small mds file that describes how that data should be read. The reason the game won't work when you extract the files to your hard drive is because the game wasn't meant to work that way. I would suggest either (a) get daemon tools which will create a virtual drive you can load the mds\mdf files with or ( *cough* and I'm assuming this is a backup copy of a game you own, as this isn't a warez forum.

Guest - Feb-12-2006 server time
Also you can use magiciso which is a good iso creator to extract or burn bin/cue. http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-overview.htm

HI all i tried this procedure and it worked well to extract the files into a new directory. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO RUN THE SETUP FILE I GET THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE!! this installer must be run from CD#1. PLEASE INSERT THAT CD AND TRY AGAIN. Then I coppied all the files to a CD AND TRIED RUNNING IT FROM THERE SAME MESSAGE! ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE??? THANX 1) Download your illegal ga-... I mean.. euh.. your *.bin file 2) Download IsoBuster (fo' real) 3) Open the *.bin file with IsoBuster 4) You will see the contents of the *.bin file, if it's a game it'll look like looking in a CD 5) Make a new folder on your desktop (or any other path) 6) Select all the files of the *.bin file (click the top file and shift-click the bottom file) and right click on them. 7) Select Extract Objects. Now select the Location of your folder. 8) The files are now in this folder and can be used like any other file from there out.

This works, I'll post it in easy steps: 1) Download your illegal ga-... I mean.. euh.. your *.bin file 2) Download IsoBuster (fo' real) 3) Open the *.bin file with IsoBuster 4) You will see the contents of the *.bin file, if it's a game it'll look like looking in a CD 5) Make a new folder on your desktop (or any other path) 6) Select all the files of the *.bin file (click the top file and shift-click the bottom file) and right click on them. 7) Select Extract Objects. Now select the Location of your folder. 8) The files are now in this folder and can be used like any other file from there out. Special thanks to: upload420 IsoBuster the guy who cracked Dawn of War myself for convincing myself to try this and posting easy steps for others |

just open the cue and in the cue open the bin
manman - Nov-18-2005 server time
The .cue is just a pointer for your burning software to allow it to find the .bin file. it does not go onto the disc with the file. hope that helps.

To quote my post, this goes to all these primitive questions. If you're going to steal stuff, at least be crafty. Not that smelly Damn that "oh em dzsi, what do I do with this .iso file type" will haunt me for years to come, damn damn damn! |

Strike Freedom - Nov-06-2005 server time
Hello everyday, I would appreciate very much if someone can help me because after reading the contents and the comments, I am still confused. See like anyone and everyone here, I have downloaded a game bit torrent and it's rar file. So I extracted the files inside and there is no .exe files but only .bin file (768MB) and .cue file (235 bytes). My PC tells me that the type of files is VLC media player but I don't understand how to use the 2 files. Even when I played the files using a VLC player, nothing happened. So what should I do? EDIT: Uhhh, I have read the .bin files need to be burned into CD to install the game but since mine is 768MB, how can I burn it in a disc? Also there is mention of emulator to run the files without burning to disc. Can recomemd any emulator or elaborate more on how to execute the files without burning?

If anyone has ? or needs software used for .bin files just email me and i will be sure to do my best to solve them sean_forste420@hotmail.com

ok i just want to tell you guys that if you have any ? about .bin files i am very very familiar with them and you don't have to burn them. The best way to open them and put them into an installable format would be to get a program called ISO buster or even WinRaR. I am a very large users of the .bin files and have never had to burn them onto a cd to get them to work. you can install a game on you harddrive directily from you hard drive. They tend to take up alot of space but that is why i carry 2 120GB hard drives And yeah .bin files are actually a little bigger than the files you extract from the .bin files. I have around 10 games on my pc that were originally .bin but i put them into there installable format and i just keep them on my harddrive even if there are not installed

big man - Oct-04-2005 server time
Thanks man that was a big help. All I did was open the .cue image in nero and burned it to a cd. that did the trick (it was a game by the way).
Guest - Oct-02-2005 server time
cant you people read? Use daemon tools or another virtual cd/dvd emulator and you dont need to burn anything! so no there not useless, uve probably deleted those downloads you couldnt get working by now lol
~andy~ - Sep-26-2005 server time
so without a burner they're pretty much useless? that would have been nice to know before i decided to do all this downloading.
Stout - Sep-22-2005 server time
This was realy helpfull, but one thing that some one (like me) might not get is how to open the files. I figured it out, though, open the .cue file with nero, and burn it. that will tell nero to extract the .bin file. Hope that helps all the peeps that need there hands held to not be lost in computers thanks for this page!
sintekk - Aug-29-2005 server time
Alternatively, you could just open up the .cue file in a cd drive emulating program (alcohol 52%)
Chris - Aug-28-2005 server time
