I could make my own BBS if I wanted to, but I just never had a reason to because I'd be reinventing the wheel. Phpbb is another choice too.

I've tested out phpBB and it's features are so lack-luster that you will hate it.

I actually did a BBS for a school project. I mean, if it was only for school I would not have made it as elaborate, but it's mainly for my site. Other people using it on their sites seem to like it though. I still need to write a documentation before I release my final version, which I dread.

Yeah from their site it looks like they might even charge for 2.0. That will be a VERY sneaky move if they do that. They keep calling it a "trial" and it's getting harder to find the free download link for current versions (1.3). If it goes pay I'll just rip them off and custom code all the new features into this one. Thanks, everything seems to have gone smooth. I did not run into any errors yet.... sometimes there's just some feature or link I forget about and then later on when I or someone else uses it, there's an error. But hopefully I got all my bases covered.

Now I can't wait till IB 2.0 comes out so I can rebuild the forum. Basically I'll make a brand new skin and re-add all the custom code.

Yea, I tried checking the query strings by altering queries and you've got that covered.

Bah... I presume IPB will be going paid soon enough. Never used it live, I prefer my own stuff. But IB is definitely a very nice BBS, just never got into.

Nice... I'm in the process of also reworking the backend of my site, by integrating it with my message board.

I wish you the best of luck with it smile.gif

Everything seems smooth so far. But please report any sql/php errors that you get when using the cybervillage and what not. I could have missed some files when editing. I hope everything is in tact though since I'll be gone for a whole week after tomorow.

Edit: had a few problems that I found but now they should be fixed. cool.gif I got a nice sum of ICs by robbing the bank too! That was worth testing out that's for sure. biglaugh.gif

The way behind the scenes processing of the site goes has been changed. It will make it much easier for me to transfer stuff back and forth on my local intranet. I'll only have to edit one master config file for the mysql stuff. So I'm uploading the new site right after I'm done this post, so hold on tight, and cross your fingers that nothing breaks. laugh.gif
