Networks/Telecom/Security -> Never use IE as an ftp client!

It probably has to do with that, in IE you can't choose wether to use binary or ascii. But usually when you mess those up it only skips the enters and replaces it with a different character, which is not noticable in advanced text editors. I think IE uses binary for everything, even text so it could be part of the problem.

is that because you used it for a binary file or an ascii file where-as a real ftp client would know the difference?

haha yeah. Next time I'll take the time to download a ftp client if I need files via ftp! IE is dangeraus! em320.gif

better idea, don't use IE for anything! tongue.gif

Anyway, IE's bad enough as a web browser, why bother trying to use it as an ftp client in the first place?

I was away from home so I decided I'd download the cybervillage files since there was a few changes to do. The quickest way was using IE....

After a download and upload, IE messed up the code layout so bad it will take months to recover from the disaster. Thankfully it did not change the functionability, but it sure made it hard to read. what it did was add about 10 returns after each line! So now everything is seperated by more then 10 returns! I can either write a program that will fix it and risk messing up data, or just fix it as I see it, type of thing. But just thought I'd share so no one does the mistake I did!
