Yeah, just move each menuitem however you want. So much can be changed by editing the Chrome. It's very cool...

Thanks tak. I don't think you need to modify and send me the file though. What I want to do should be a simple matter of moving a few lines of code, correct? Kinda interesting though. Just looking at those few lines of code, I can understand a good amount of what's going on. It's just a matter of figuring out where all these objects are coming from

\Firefox\chrome\toolkit(.jar)\content\global\bindings\tabbrowser.xml That's where you will find the file. You'll see this towards the top:
XUL is an XML-based language, so it follows XML syntax. XUL is to UIs as HTML is to Web pages, you could say... XUL is very fun to play with. Look around the Chrome and see what all you can do. If you'd like, I will give you a modified tabbrowser.xml file that has the order you want and then you (should) just be able to replace it with the one you have... Or I could give you the modified code to paste in yourself. I don't mind. XUL is something I'm just starting out on, but I'm loving it so far! |

Never bothered trying those other ones, I stick with plain mozilla, and I love it. Personally I think mozilla.org should stick to normal mozilla, I don't see the point of having more then one of the same type of product. Instead they could concentrate on normal mozilla and make it even better then it is now.

FoxFire suks, I'll stay with Firebird

oh, yeah. It is in one of those jars. I ran across it once when I was removing an extension manually and had to go in and remove a menu entry refering to it. Now if only I could remember which jar and file within that jar it was

Nope, that's not the file... What the hell. I'm just going to download the installer... I've promised myself to do these stupid geometry proofs first though! |

heh, I may have to go and change the order back myself. I never really created new tabs that way, I always just opened them form a link or somethign like that. What file is that in, userChrome.css? I don't really know why the changed the name either. Firefox is a cool name and all, but firebird\thunderbird makes a lot more sense to me. At least they were talking about the same kind of animal

HA! I remember having that problem coming from the Suite... A really liked the Suite, and I hated Firebird at first, but now I love Firebird much more. Err... I don't know if I will like Firefox or not. Oh... You can change the order that those menu items appear if you'd like. |

I will say one thing about firefox though. They changed the darn order in the right click menu for the tabs! Now everytime I try to close a tab, I end up opening a new one

I'm going to be sort of sad when I upgrade. This was the last Firebird release. Now it's Firefox. I greatly prefer the old name, but hey... EDIT: To correct myself, this was not Firebird's last release. A Mac-only version was released after 0.7...

heh, thanks, but by this point I've figured it out already Actually I went to the very site you mentioned for thunderbird and transfered my settings that way. Seems somewhat of a brute force way of doing it, copying over all thsoe other browser, composers, chatzilla, etc files with it., but it works, and aside from teh browser I really didn't use those other progs anyway, so they didn't leave alot behind. As for firefox, bookmarks transfer was easy, obviously, and I found how to transfer saved passwords in the firefox faq, just a matter of copying a few files and renaming one of them. I may have to try transfering over some cookies, but otherwsie I really don't mind rebuilding everything else from scratch.

http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/faq.html#q2.2 That's for Thunderbird. For Firefox, you should be able to transfer things like your cookies, userChrome.css, and userContent.css just by overwriting those files in the Firebird profile folder. Good luck with everything. I have an uneasy feeling for some reason. The name change, the lack of ZIP builds on Mozilla.org, the post saying that unofficial builds can't use Firefox artwork, etc. I guess this is just too much change for me. I think I'm actually going to have to post for what unofficial build I want. I still don't have the newest releases...

It will probably allow you to import the stuff when you install, but I have not tried, maybe tak will know.

With the recent release of firefox, I was thinking about making the jump from mozilla to firefox and thunderbird. Thing is, I don't want to lose all my mail, settings, and save paswords in the process. But there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to do so. So, is it possible? Am I overlooking a tool that'll do al this for me? Or is it just a matter of moving the right files to a new location?
