At my school they started us off with PASCAL, but I had previously worked with Q-Basic on my own. Mind you if you really want to learn to code, you should start with C tongue.gif

I wish to learn Q-Basic!!! Why is my teacher teaching us Turing???

cool.gif Hey Everyone, huh.gif

I'm pretty fluent in Turing as ancient as it may be. I learned it in school and still use it somewhat, if you need help just email me or PM.

Well, the STL doesn't cover everything.

Red Squirrel - Feb-01-2005 server time
It's just harder since I'm used to old habbits and not everything is possible with STL, such as sockets.

Also trying to stick to STL standards though that's a little harder but worth it in the end time.

If using the STL doesn't make things easier, then you're doing it wrong.

Yeah making networks apps is cool. I slowly started getting into it again, but now I'm developing on Linux, that way I have a better excuse to make it console only with no GUI - so it can run off telnet/ssh. em320.gif

I agree. Turing is nice to start off with, because it is sooo simple. But then again, just start off with C++. It's better because you can keep expanding on it. Turing, you reach the end much quicker. There's no network capabilities, it's soooo limited.

Red Squirrel - Jan-31-2005 server time
Yeah I wish they did teach C++. we're doing VB in college right now. More advanced then turing, but then again, I don't even know if I want to consider VB a programming language. laugh.gif

I know a lot of turing, so i know how much it sucks. I have to learn it in computer science. FOR GOD'S SAKE, WHY DON'T THEY JUST TEACH C++. i created this account just to say how stupid turing is and well yes, teach C++ @ school. not like it is hard or anything.

hey, welcome.gif i'm in grade 10 and help some help with turing. i came here cause i need MAJOR help. we have to design a game for our 3rd term and mine is done, BUT i want to do a highscore table. I've done stuff using dir's and stuff, but never making a file to be created (by the game), read, or written to. unsure.gif if someone could PLEASE help me you would be great! my teacher gave me a program to use, but it won't work and i can't figure out why. huh.gif THANK YOU!!!!!!

PS. no one uses turing anymore unless your doing math functions, but that's what fortan is for. turing's base in the computer schooling is to teach the basics of programing sturcture. ...just a little info about it

Ancient? As in from the 80s? tongue.gif

I can help you with some things, but not Turing. sad.gif

Red Squirrel - Jan-13-2004 server time
We seem to be ranked high on google when it comes to turing-related keywords which is brining lot of people here looking for turing help.

Turing is an ancient programming language and not many people here know it and it may take a while to get the help you need. We are glad to see you dropping by and hope to see you also post and participate in other subjects as well, however, for specific turing help, I would recomend searching further and maybe finding a turing specific forum. xyxthumbs.gif

Or, you can consider learning other languages which I can help you more with such as C++ and php. I know basic C++ and I know more php, so those are subjects I can help you out with, and we also have 2 articles covering php that are geared towards starters.

So thanks for dropping by and hope you get the help you need and participate further into other discussions as well. yodude.gif
