They make small wirenuts for small wires Also you could use any mechanical splices' that are made for automotive wiring--same voltage. ![]() This is for a 3 way splice Or you could use a 3 way -which can also be used as 2 way- telepnone crimp connectors which are also waterproof. Failing all I would at least use shrink wrap tubing. It's worth it to do good wiring right away OR ![]() |

| Not for small wires like these. Imagine shoving 25 wire nuts in a wiring box. An electrical nightmare. |

Why don't you use wire nuts?? |

TAHT'S WHAT YOU SAY! |

| Yeah if you do it that way then you're fine. You'll need two switches though, one for the 5v and one for the 12v. But you could always make them use the same ground then just hook up the switch on the ground, though I'd recomend a seperate PSU if you do that as it's not really wise to "mix" the 5v and 12v ground. |

| ok thanks i know they arent hot-swappable but i was looking to avoid spending extra for an enclosure... I guess to reduce the risk of running into problems i could only operate the switch when the computer is powered off - ie switch the comp off, flick the switch and then turn the comp back on. |

| You could, but IDE hard drives are not really hot swapable so you could risk corrupting data on it, and when you turn it back on II don't think the system will pick it up. Your best bet is to get an external enclosure for it instead. Edit: Doh, it's Red Squirrel here, forgot to log in (posting from campus) |

| wud it be safe to use this for my 2nd hard drive (that i only use for backup)? it is very noisy, and seeing as i dont use it most of the time it would be very handy to be able to switch it off without opening the case... |

| Nah 12 volts could never do that. That's the highest voltage we're dealing with inside a PC, unless you play with the PSU. |

| Im going to laugh very hard when you computer catches fire from not using the right tape. |

| It should work as long as it's properly connected. |

| to the other? Will it fry my psu? |
| rovingcowboy - Aug-30-2003 server time | ||
I done that before too taped up good then got some supper glue to hold the end down when it got hot. one thing though i did that with fog lights for the car. you know that wires burn fast and i got a burn scar on my hand from grabbing them wires while they was a smoking under the dash |

Ghetto mods baby! I didn't have electrical tape, so i used scotch! hahah. |

| I'm thinking of making a lighter to molex adapter for a car, someone at another forum was looking for one and I said if I can find the adapters I can wire it for him and charge him whatever it costs me + shipping. It will make another unique article subject. I did not write any new articles in so long. |

| nice article red but i thought you were talking about code switches? i have my fans all daisy chained to the power by extension plugs for the hd's. and do you need soder??? i use duct tape when i splice |
| wldkos - Aug-27-2003 server time |
| Wow, not bad red. I liked that. i think it would have been very cool to use maybe 3 fans/switches like you had said. Is there really a need to turn the fans on and off? |

| COOL! just did this. looks wicked. Cheers red |

| Well, since I'm running stock, I won't need to worry about my P4 running hot! |

| This article will show you how to make a simple on/off switch to turn on or off fans in your computer. This specific setup will control 3 fans with one switch, but it could easily be done so there are 3 switches for each fan as well. http://www.iceteks.com/articles/parser.php...ticle=fanswitch |
