Shareaza - a better Peer to peer program A good spyware-free kazaa alternative By Red Squirrel
Peer to Peer networking programs have seen a big decrease in the past few years or so because of sharing terrorists (RIAA, etc). That means there are less people using the programs, which comes down to less available data. While most people use P2P networks to get a little discount on overpriced electrons, they are also very useful for exchanging 100% legal information such as funny videos, art, 9/11 tributes etc... P2P networks are the best low budget solution to finding, and sharing ridiculously large files that would cost thousands to host on a server.
The drawback of P2P networks compared to a server hosting files is that it is 1: less reliable and 2: less secure. P2P networks are run by everyone that uses them, and they can stop the connection at any time, whether it is on purpose or by accident. Also security is less high because of the major threat of terrorists such as the RIAA, who can use the network to gain user's IPs (which is harder to do on a web server, since only the owner can access the IPs). Some file terrorist agencies will actually hack user's PCs! Because they are part of the US government, nothing can be done to stop them. Some will contact the user's ISP and even go as far as threatening them to give out info...or else...
Another downside of P2P programs is that allot of them have spyware in them. Some others are just plain crappy. Shareaza, however is open source and has no spyware! Not only that but it is a very stable network, and it also features a good firewall that you can use to block the terrorists out so they won't hijack the network to cause problems and invade people's privacy.
On the next page we'll go more into details as to what makes Shareaza a very good P2P program.

I found that if you use Shareaza to search for just about any person's name, it will return some files in the network. I examined these by downloading and trying to browse the source and I have to believe that all these files are fictitious.
How does it happen? Has someone managed to put a bot of somekind that is executed whenever the search result is supposed to be nil? This same script or bot may then create a file from a template or rename a ready file to conform to the search criteria. These files, I found out are dubious and are mostly in movie, zip, rar types which contain executables. Some executables tries to open certain money making sites (related to porn and tailored fit to the user's locality) and even contain backdoor virus/worm that will create a hole in the clients pc for someone to peer thru.
I have people and especially the creators of this P2P app check on this. Otherwise P2p is in danger.

Beta 2.1.3.2 of Shareaza is the present of p2p. Versions 2.1.x always had: - reward system - not only file comment, but ghost rating - very good torrent support - best GUI among p2p clients - none kind of malware
