Tutorial on how to burn an ISO image Burn like the cafeteria ladies do (but faster) By Wldkos
My last article covered the basics of Linux and what it is. This article will cover how to burn the ISO image of the distro that you chose. This is really simple, but it needs to be covered, and please read the footer at the end of the article. To start with, I am under the assumption that you have visited http://linuxiso.org and have downloaded your distro's ISO's. They should range from 500 megabytes to 670MB. Now I also assume that you are in windows, hence not having linux yet, so I did the tutorial in windows using the newest version of Nero. The steps are easy, and you should have no problem finding out how to do this with any other cd burning software.
1) What you want to do is have all 3 ISO's download and ready to be burned. I had a misfortune with space so I could only fit 2 of the images on my hard drive, burn them and then get the third. As you can see below, there are my 2 Mandrake iso's :
Mandrake92-cd1inst.i586
Mandrake92-cd2ext.i586
Mandrake92-cd3intl.i586 (not shown)

2) Your next step is to open your cd-burning software:

and get ready to burn the cd's having 3 blank cd-r's on hand.
3) What you want to do is click where my mouse is, or " Disc Image or Saved Project". This should default to a file viewing pane, with the extension ".nrg, .cue, .bin, .iso ..etc" which means that Nero knows you are going to burn a boot able cd.
